The Journal of Chinese Martial Studies recently launched its new web site and, following publication of its Winter 2010 edition, will be releasing its Summer 2010 magazine.

According to the publisher, the Journal of Chinese Martial Studies is aimed at dedicated martial artists who want to broaden their knowledge and understanding of China’s martial arts. The publication is also aimed at students of Chinese culture.

The beautifully illustrated summer edition includes articles about Chinese archery, a report on the 2009 Hong Kong International Kung Fu Festival, Taijiquan Heavenly Pattern Boxing, and more. The cover story features Ma Fengtu, a reputed martial arts scholar.

The magazine’s editorial panel is led by Ma Mingda, Professor of History at Jinan University. According to the magazine, Ma’s published works span 30 years, including ancient Chinese history, classical literature, Chinese sports history, Chinese philology, and Islamic history in China. Ma is editor for the Encyclopedia of Chinese Martial Arts (1995), and as head of the Tongbei system of martial studies, he is devoted to promoting and reviving China’s classical martial arts and indigenous sports.
